Party with Lauren Strasnick

Lauren has extra reason to party today. It's her release day!!!

Today is the book birthday for Lauren's new book, Her and Me and You. To celebrate, we're turning this into a double post - so any comments left below, congratulating Lauren on her release will count for double entries!

About Lauren:

Lauren grew up in Connecticut, but now lives in Los Angeles. She is a graduate of Emmerson College and the California Institute of the Arts (CalArts) MFA Writing Program. She enjoys dancing, singing and all things creative.

About Her and Me and You:

First love, broken friendships, and heartache all play a part in this evocative, voice-driven novel about Alex, a girl whose world is ripped apart when her father’s affair splits her family in two.

Alex moves with her mess of a mother to a new town, where she is befriended by hot, enigmatic Fred–and alternately flirted with and cold-shouldered by Fred’s twin sister, Adina. Others warn Alex to steer clear of the twins, whose sibling relationship is considered abnormal at best, but there’s just something about Fred–and something about Adina–that draws Alex to them and makes her want to be part of their crazy world, no matter the consequences.

Kirkus calls Her and Me and You "Complex and thought-provoking."
A GCC interview:

Have you ever fallen for a guy with an anorexic, drunk, possessive, twin sister?

No.

Are you superstitious in any way?

Um, yes! In every way. It's a daily battle between my rational, sensible mind, and the crazy-paranoid superstitious voices that loop around in my brain.
ind, and the crazy-paranoid s
Do you have any special writing rituals or totems to connect with your muse?
I write in bed. In total silence. It helps when the cat sleeps nearby, under the covers.

What are you working on now?

Another book for Simon Pulse: DAKOTA WEBB IS MISSING (slated for spring 2012). It’s a mystery! It’s also a book about identity and obsession.

What is an interesting writing quirk of yours?

I write with my hands tied behind my back. Kidding!

If Her and Me and You were made into a movie, who would you like to see in the role of Alex?
Oh! Hannah Murray. This adorable girl from the British teen series, SKINS. Only she's play an American.

Now for Lauren's numbers:

Your compound number values are twenty-two, twenty-four, and ten.

Ten is a number of honor, of faith and of self-confidence. Ten is a fortunate number that indicates that one’s plans are likely to be carried out – however, it is symbolized by the wheel of fortune, which can signal a rise and fall in success.

Twenty-two is a powerful number and often known as the Master Builder. Those influenced by twenty-two are often idealists and visionaries with the ability to manifest dreams into reality through vision and faith. The number can also be a warning, however, indicating a good person, a dreamer of dreams, who must act practically or risk wasting their potential.

Twenty-four is a favorable number, which signifies gifts and good fortune. Those influenced by this number are are cooperative, energetic, and accept the greatest challenges. They will likely enjoy the assistance and association of those of rank and position.

Your name number vibration is one.

The number one indicates someone who is creative, independent, original, individual. Ones are good self-starters and natural leaders. Ones show interest in the arts, such as singing, acting, writing, painting, and love to curl up with a good book.

And her reaction:

Surprisingly accurate! I am indeed creative and independent. And I absolutely do show an interest in writing, ha (& singing! Along w/ the stereo!).

Except for Ten's threat of a rise and fall in success (yikes!), these numbers sound great -- the promise of such good fortune! I do think, in regards to my writing life -- I've always had some sort of blind belief that i'd succeed. There was never a Plan B, you know? I suppose that suggests a certain amount of faith & self-confidence (or stupidity & stubbornness!). I am an idealist. Also, a dreamer. I'd like to think i'm cooperative too, and that i rise to friendly challenges! Although the people who know me best me might say something else entirely... :)

Thanks for including me, Linda! This was fun.
